The Week of Day Birth?
So yeah, I guess this is my birthday week. Turning 33 on the 23rd (Saturday, ooh ooh). feelsgoodman. Best part: I’m seeing Clipse on Saturday!! I’ve been saying, it was meant to be. I was the BIGGEST Clipse stan in high school and my fandom was a lonely one. Just listening to the We Got It 4 Cheap mixtapes and wishing people knew Malice was cold af. I’m stoked that people are receiving their latest project so well, but I’m gonna play that gatekeeper card until I die. Y’all weren’t there, damn it! With that said haha I’m stoked to see them. The venue is small af too (The Novo); last time I saw them was at the Glass House. So it’ll be intimate, if anything. As intimate as it can be from the VIP seats ayyyyy.
In the meantime, had another recording session with BDR on the 17th. Recorded all of the vocals for “My Life” and the guitar solo for “Let You Know”. I was hoping to get some more guitar done, but the vocals took a whiiiiiiile haha I wasn’t on that day. Still a good time, though. I took a few short videos and some pictures, should be enough to put a post together. This screenshot makes me want to get a better camera xD But I guess that really means “get a new phone”. We’ll see.
I’m also still slaving away at this damn King of the Hill guitar solo! Found it on YouTube and have been using the playback speed to practice. Getting it up to speed has been a PAIN and I’m worried I’ve plateaued at .95x speed. Despite the difficulty level it’s still fun to practice and once I’m at full speed I’ll have something awesome to record. I’m feeling some imposter syndrome though because dude is playing fast as hell while picking every single note on an ACOUSTIC GUITAR. Meanwhile I’m relying on hammer-ons and pull-offs to get me through these phrases on an electric. My compromise (with myself) is to use a clean, country twang-y tone to sound like a true Arlenite. It’s a shame because my Tele has the perfect tone for this solo, but my PRS just plays faster. If you know, you know. Got some decisions to make haha.
As much as I’d love to spend the entire week being unproductive, still got stuff to do. Basically finishing lyrics for the latest round of beats I’m working with and getting my social media stuff up-to-date. Along with playing the guitar and all that, anyways y’all get it.
