The Martin Gachiri Experience is the solo project of songwriter/guitarist Martin Gachiri.
Since picking up the guitar at 12 years old, the lifelong SGV native's musical influences have ranged from Red Hot Chili Peppers and Fishbone to Wu-Tang Clan and Diblo Dibala.
"Writing poems and songs was the only way I knew how to express certain feelings", Martin states. "Music is what got me through the darkest times of my life, the times where I didn't even want to live." Known for his confessional lyrics, Martin Gachiri hopes his music can provide some relief to others battling mental illness. "Music has the power to provoke so many feelings, both positive and negative. I want to wield that power for good. With TMGE, I want to create a shared experience that highlights the universality of human emotion.”
Describing his music as "eclectic, but always groovy", TMGE is known for rapping over traditional hip-hop beats that incorporate his own rhythmic guitar riffs and blazing solos. The Martin Gachiri Experience released two projects in 2020; the EP "MzeeMuzik" and the album "The L.O.S.T. Files 2". That same year, MzeeMuzik's "Steffie" was featured on Dandelion Radio by DJ Mark Cundiff, who described the track as "a rare specimen" and "fab".
In 2024, “Make It Stop”, his West African-inspired collaboration with label Water The Plants, was featured on Folded Waffle’s Exclusive Artist Interview series. TMGE continues to write, record, and perform.
His latest EP “No Context” was released on March 1st, 2026.
